With all of the reckless adventure, bloody brawls, and life loss battles you wonder how James Bowie made it
in the 1800’s.
James Bowie was born on 1796 in Kentucky, but while still a little boy he was forced to move to Missouri
with his family. Then a few years later he moved to Louisiana where he spent most of his childhood.
In 1827 Bowie was part of a bloody brawl. Many people were killed, but Bowie was fortunate just to be injured. After he recovered he moved to Texas.
Bowie took time cultivating friendships with the Indians, such as teaching them how to grow crops, flowers, plants, and food, in return they taught him how to hunt for silver and gold.
Bowie lead in the Battle of Conception and also in the Grass Fight. In command he was forced to volunteer for William B. Travis and his army troop.
James Bowie hurt himself during the Siege of the Alamo, and caused one bone to rub against another, causing lots of friction.
At his death he was confined to his cot. On March 6 1836 he died at the Battle of the Alamo.
